Our FIRST Experience
Rohit Rajakumar
I have been participating in FIRST programs for the past nine years. Currently, I’m a member of the RoboLoCo Academies of Loudoun FRC team. My FIRST journey started with the Waste Wise Jr.FLL Season, where I got the opportunity to learn about programming with the LEGO WeDo. FIRST ignited my love for programming, and it’s now a huge part of my life.
Anurag Perakalapudi
I got into FIRST back in fifth grade, and it was a whole new world for me. I learned a bunch of cool stuff that's been super useful. One thing I got the hang of was working with a team – figuring out how to bring together different strengths to make something cool. I also got into programming, which got me interested in tech and helped me get better at solving problems. Building and messing around with robots taught me a ton about paying attention to details and finding creative solutions. Since then, I've kept at it, doing more FLL and FTC seasons, and I've learned way more than I ever thought I would. These skills I've picked up go way beyond just robotics, helping me out in everyday life, like being adaptable, thinking creatively, and never backing down.
Awards
Our FLL team, Stradroids, has achieved great success in state and regional competitions, winning numerous awards. As the main programmers for our FTC team, despite being rookies, we were able to earn the Control Award. This award acknowledges teams that have developed a smart software solution for their robot. It is commonly referred to as the 'software award' and is given to the team with a accurate or creative software and sensor solution for the game.
